Toxic Links

Low-quality (toxic) backlinks can have a negative impact on your site rankings or even provoke search engines to ban your pages, not rank certain keywords or remove the site from search results.

Garnering links still remains a critical method of search engine marketing. With the Google Penguin 2.0 algorithm update, you should pay more attention to the quality of your backlink profile. Conduct an analysis on your own links in order to keep your site safe from search engine penalties.

Links from bad neighborhoods, site wide links or a bunch of links with the same exact anchor text may harm your rankings.

The Backlink Quality Check helps to investigate who links to you and, if you feel you’ve been penalized, you can disavow low-quality links with the help of the Google Disavow tool.

To ask Google not to take certain links into account when ranking your site, you should:

1. We will download a txt file that contains the list of links you have manually selected in the report and forward them to you.
2. Go to the Google Disavow Tool to upload your file with the list of low-quality links. Follow the instructions to upload the file and submit it to Google.
   Note: If the required site is not present in the drop-down menu you should add it and verify the ownership in the Google Search Console.
3. Since it takes weeks according to Google to process disavowed links we recommend that you upload the updated file not oftener than once a month.
4. After you have Done the above, please confirm with us and we will mark this action completed. We will continue to monitor and report monthly on any new toxic links found.
